At its core, kombucha is tea that has been cultured and fermented. At Spruce Kombucha, we believe that’s all it ever needs to be. We use only four ingredients: Filtered Water, Organic Cane Sugar, Cultures, and Tea. Never any added flavorings or sweeteners. Even with this limited palette, the flavor possibilities are endless. The secret? It’s all in the tea. Rather than using a generic tea and covering it up with added flavors, we scour the world for tea blends bursting with nuanced flavors all their own. With just enough sweetness from the fermentation sugars, the resulting flavor profile is surprisingly deep and complex. We hope you enjoy it!
This class will consist of basic brewing techniques taught by Paul, the Portland-native owner of Spruce Kombucha followed by a session of Q&A. He will dive into everything that goes into making classy and delicious tasting kombucha in the comfort of your own home.
The class will explore the topics of kombucha origins, what makes a SCOBY, how to make/flavor kombucha, and above all, the different ways to enjoy kombucha!
At the end of the class, students will have the opportunity to purchase and pre-order starter kits from Spruce to take home with them! These starter kits include everything you need to make a 1-gallon batch in less than 2 weeks! The kits are grown and put together with high quality ingredients right from Jasmine Pearl Tea Co. in a temperature controlled lab in SE Portland.
